Spring Skincare Staples I Can’t Live Without

Hello, Yes! It’s my first beauty post, long over due considering I have been meaning to write some sort of beauty post since starting this little blog in November. But I guess that’s what happens you feel a fraud with skincare and beauty. Because I am definitely by no means an expert in either and I think if anyone were to see how I apply things to my face they would gasp in horror! But anyway, here we go.

I find that when Spring comes, due to the turbulent English weather going from sunny and hot to cold and rainy my skin has an absolute melt down, like a baby throwing of all of its toys out of the pram in an absolute rage. That’s not just my face either, my body hates it and I become like a scaly reptile like being – sexy right?

So without further a do lets take a peak and see what I use to try and tame the beast that is my skin, the good, the bad, the ugly.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish: I think everyone and their grandma has heard or tried this product, its not new news but honestly it’s a product that I get why it’s raved about! It’s so gentle on the skin. It’s what I use first thing in the morning and that is because I want my skin to have a gentle start to the day. The Cleanse and Polish is enriched the cocoa butter which is really important for me as although I think my skin is combination I like to keep it as moisturised as possible, but also it has rosemary, chamomile and eucalyptus to tone, soothe and purify. Again for my skin I love things that soothe it but also get rid of all the nasties on my skin, even just after a night of sleeping.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo SPF 30: Every morning this is my go moisturiser not only does it help with scarring and unclogging pores it also helps to reduce the redness and appearance of spots should you have any. Honestly I cannot rave about this enough because although I don’t suffer majorly with spots I do get the occasionally ones and this just helps them, plus it is super moisturising too and has an SPF of 30 because SPF is so important even on days when it’s not uber sunny! SPF is important kids!

NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm: My absolute holy grail of a lip balm, I rave about this so much, well so much so that for christmas I got given two of these because the two people who gifted them knew how upset I was that I had ran out. My lips are like a hormonal teenager, one minute they can be fine, the next they are raging and so moody with cracks and dryness everywhere. But this lip balm keeps them super moisturised, with the use of honey and botanical oils.

Dermologica Special Cleansing Gel*: I use this every evening just before stepping into the shower and honestly it is my absolute favourite! It wipes away my make up so well and I’m left with no panda eyes, even with the toughest of mascaras. Plus it doesn’t take out our natural moisture which is so important right now for me because my skin decided to go so dry on my chin and above my right eye.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm: I use the whilst in the shower as I love to cleanse twice in the evening, what I love about this cleansing balm is that is also has shea butter and almond oil in it to nourish and hydrate your skin while also unclogging pores and washing away impurities. Honestly after using both these cleanses my skin feels amazing! Plus I have a tiny little sample of this and it has lasted me a good while which is a plus!

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: Now once or twice a week I like to exfoliate my skin, I don’t do it every day just because my skin doesn’t enjoy it but this is the exfoliant I am using at the moment and honestly it’s so gentle. It’s rice based exfoliant and comes in powder form so when adding water it becomes a paste that you then obviously use in circular motions on your skin leaving it feeling bright and clean!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask: If your skin is dry, GET THIS! honestly my favourite night moisturiser. Like Origins say and I completely agree, it’s like drinking a glass of water for your skin and helping you to wake up looking refreshed and I couldn’t agree more with this description. Although what I will say, is if your skin is more normal/combination like mine I would maybe not use it every night, I use it 2-3 times a week.

Clinique All About Eyes: Eyes are, I think one of the most important parts to look after when it comes to skin care, because not only do fine lines show easily (not that I’m complaining as I think it shows the amount of laughter and happiness that shines from someone) It’s something I like to try and combat. After all the skin around your eyes is one of the thinest layers of skin. This little pot helps to try diminish the look of puffy eyes, darkness and fine lines. Also if used in the morning, because it’s gel it can actually help keep eye make up in place! So I do use this day and night!

La Roche-Posay Nutritic Lips: This little gem stays on my bed side table so I can use it every night before bed. This was recommended by a friend after I ran out of the NUXE lip balm and it is definitely such a good substitute, it immediately absorbs into the lips which is so helpful just before bed and it really does moisturise them!

And there you have it my easy skincare regime that I am using currently this spring. I like to try and keep it as minimal as possible and I feel especially for the morning it’s quick, easy and does a pretty good job! I also understand that these products are all a little pricey but considering I am graced with my skin my whole life it’s only right I look after it as much as I can!

Although I am looking to use all natural, cruelty free products in the future so would love to be educated in alternatives people find work for them!
